meet the Team
John Bernardo
Mr. Bernardo holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in marine transportation and a major in nautical science from the NY Maritime College. He has over 35 years of senior marine management and operational experience for a Fortune 500 oil company. He has served on several National and International marine and terminal committees and boards. He also served as principle marine advisor to six major refineries and over 60 marine marketing terminals. He has co-led a national study on barge and tug safety and was one of five industry members selected to establish offshore lightering zones in wake of OPA 90. He has conducted numerous security assessments, security audits, safety, vetting and personnel training both domestic and foreign, for vessels, terminals, ports, companies, and facilities. Mr. Bernardo has also served 10 years active and reserve duty as an USCG Port Security officer and Hull inspector. Mr. Bernardo also possesses US government secret clearance status.
Philip
McCrary
Mr.
McCrary holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama
with a
major in criminal justice and a minor in political science. He has over 9 years experience in
professional law enforcement and has training in the following fields. Threat assessment, special weapons and
tactics, firearms, rapid planning, protective operations, interview and
interrogations, hazardous materials awareness and domestic preparedness. He received a Unit Citation for Valorous
Actions in 2002 from the National Tactical Officers Association for his
participation in a critical hostage rescue operation.
He has trained numerous law enforcement and civilian personnel
in
the areas listed above. He has also
conducted threat assessments for both the public and private sectors.
Kevin Thompson
Mr. Thompson has over 18 years of experience
in
professional law enforcement and has training in the following fields. Threat assessment, special weapons and
tactics; raid planning, protective operations, urban and rural sniper
counter
sniper, interview and interrogations, hazardous material awareness and
domestic
preparedness. He also holds
certifications by the National Rifle Association as a Firearms
Instructor. He received a Unit Citation
for Valorous
Actions in 2002 from the National Tactical Officers Association for his
participation in a critical hostage rescue operation. He has trained
numerous
law enforcement and civilian personnel in the areas listed above. He has also conducted both training and
threat assessments for the public and private sectors.
Leon Torbert
Mr.
Torbert has 9 years of law enforcement experience. He has earned BS in
Management of Human Resources from Faulkner University. He has special
training
in Special Weapons and Tactics, Investigations, firearms training, use
of force
and officer survival tactics. He
received a Unit Citation for Valorous Actions in 2002 from the National
Tactical Officers Association for his participation in a critical
hostage
rescue operation. Served 13 years with
the United States Marine Corps. (Experience ranging from infantry
tactics to
special operations, served in the Persian Gulf in 1987 during the re
flagging
of the Kuwaiti ships during the Iraq and Iran war and also Desert Storm. Deployed throughout the world with 2nd Force
Reconnaissance Company on call to conduct in extremes hostage rescue
and direct
action missions.) Training and experience in special operations and

Additionally, he
has performed security and threat assessments in both the private and
